Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ScoreUp Pro

How do I get started?

Sign up for free and you'll receive 3 exam credits right away — no credit card required. Free credits never expire, so you can take your first mock exams whenever you're ready.

What types of exams are available?

Mock exams for three exam families, all in the official format: IELTS Academic and General Training (Reading, Listening, Writing), the Goethe-Zertifikat from A1 to C2 (Reading, Listening, Writing) and telc Deutsch from A1 to C1 (Reading, Listening, Writing, and Sprachbausteine from B1). Speaking practice is coming soon.

What's the difference between IELTS Academic and General Training?

IELTS Academic is designed for university admissions and professional registration, featuring academic-style content. General Training is for work experience and immigration, with practical, everyday topics. Both are scored on the same 0–9 band scale.

How does the AI grading work?

Reading and Listening are scored instantly against the answer key. Writing is assessed by AI against the official criteria of the exam you take: for IELTS, Task Achievement, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy; for Goethe and telc, the assessment criteria of each level. Speaking practice is coming soon.

How accurate is the AI grading?

The AI marks against the official criteria and gives consistent, detailed feedback, which makes it a reliable practice tool. Its score is an estimate, not an official result: an examiner on the day may grade differently. Use it to find your weak spots and to track your progress.

Are the exams timed like the real test?

Yes. Every section runs on the official clock. IELTS, for example: Writing 60 minutes (20 for Task 1, 40 for Task 2), Reading 60 minutes for 3 passages, and Listening 32 minutes — about 30 minutes of audio plus 2 minutes to check your answers, as in the computer-delivered test. Goethe and telc sections follow the timings of their level. That way you get used to real exam pressure.

Can I access my exam history?

Absolutely. All your completed exams, scores, and detailed feedback are stored in your dashboard. You can review past performance anytime to track your improvement over time.

How does the Unlimited monthly plan work?

The Unlimited monthly plan costs €19.99 a month and opens every mock exam for every Goethe, telc and IELTS level, as often as you like. If you have never had the Unlimited monthly plan, your first month costs €9.99. It renews every month until you cancel, and you can cancel any time, effective at the end of the month you have paid for. Fair use: up to 5 AI-graded Writing exams a day, and one exam open at a time. On the website, a creator's code comes on top of the intro offer: its percentage is taken off the €9.99 first month. Any other discount code can take up to 50% off your first month instead, and you pay whichever first-month price is lower.

Do I need to subscribe to use ScoreUp Pro?

No. Grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening practice are free for everyone, and every new account gets 3 free exam credits. You only need the Unlimited monthly plan if you want to keep taking mock exams after that.

What happens to exam credits I already have?

They keep working. Free credits and credits from packs bought earlier never expire, and each one still starts an exam section. Credit packs are no longer sold; the Unlimited monthly plan has taken their place.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. Payments are processed through Stripe on the website and through Apple in the iOS app. We never store your credit card details on our servers.

What happens to my data after I submit an exam?

Your exams and feedback are stored in your private account, and you can open them anytime from your dashboard. To grade your writing, we send your answers to our AI providers OpenAI, Anthropic and Google — only after you have given permission, and they may not use them to train their public models. Speaking practice is coming soon; your voice recordings will be handled the same way. We never sell your data. Our Privacy Policy lists every provider.

What happens if my exam credits run out?

Choose the Unlimited monthly plan: for €19.99 a month you can take every mock exam as often as you like, and if you have never had it, your first month costs €9.99. Grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening practice stay free whatever you decide.

What is the Vocabulary Trainer?

Our Vocabulary Trainer helps you master essential words through spaced repetition. Practice with multiple question types including definitions, synonyms, and fill-in-the-blank exercises. Track your progress and build daily streaks to reinforce learning.

How do streaks and progress tracking work?

Practice on consecutive days to build a daily streak — any vocabulary, grammar, reading or exam activity counts. Your dashboard tracks accuracy, words and rules mastered, and exam scores over time, so you can see exactly where you are improving and what still needs work.

How many mock exams does ScoreUp Pro have?

As of October 11, 2026: 274 mock exams — 134 for the Goethe-Zertifikat (A1–C2), 108 for telc Deutsch (A1–C1, including C1 Hochschule) and 32 for IELTS. Each mock exam is one complete section of the exam (Reading, Listening, Writing or Sprachbausteine) with the official parts, item counts and timing; Speaking is coming soon. The free practice area adds 33,645 vocabulary questions, 11,611 grammar exercises, 384 reading passages graded by level and 155 listening clips. The library keeps growing, so these numbers change over time.
